I am happy to share that I have recently started a new professional adventure at the Claranet Portugal, an inter-continental company with offices and business in UK, Brasil, Italy, France, Spain, Benelux, Germany & of course Portugal. I am working as a Cloud Data Engineer, helping great companies to optimise their data strategy in the cloud – helping to migrate and get the best out of what the different Data Platforms provide.
Nothing changes in my relationship with the best data platform in the world (Azure & SQL DB / SQL Server), which is why I am already taking a number of clients on the exciting journey there. Besides the usual things I already know, I am looking to learn about the other cloud solutions and their advantages, and it excites me to feel like a kind of a newcomer.
I have known the wonderful group of people with whom I am working for some time, and besides some obvious factors (such as that I can walk from home to the company office), work with different cloud providers (Azure, AWS, GCP), learn different Data Platforms, the most important thing for me is that I can finally bring & share my knowledge in my country, again.
Oh and by the way, the difference to the other opportunities was that they have shown an interest & respect – a real interest & human respect, and that was enough.
No matter how long this journey will last – wether 6 months, 1 year or 10 years – I am jumping into the new exciting projects, and some of my close friends know – I am really excited about it. I am looking to learn a lot on this journey and there are so many factors that can help me to grow as a person, and after all this is one of the most important things for me right now.
Congrats! But dang, that sounds like you’re not going to be doing as much columnstore work, and the world needs you. :-D
Thank you for the congratulations, sir!
I would not worry too much … A lot of new Columnstore stuff will come out very soon. :)
